    VERONA - Living Word Academy edged Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in a battle of boys volleyball unbeatens Tuesday night. The Lions of Judah posted a 23-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-19 win with David Mazur leading the way.

    "It was excellent volleyball, the fans were very entertained, it was a packed house," said VVS coach Jim Burton. "In the end they wore us down. They have a lot of offense. And that third game was a momentum game."

    Mazur's 29 kills and seven blocks loomed large for LWA (4-0, 5-0), as well as Jachin Bender's 63 assists. Mark Dixon and Justin Smith teamed for 23 kills to lead the Red Devils (2-1, 4-1).

    LWA (4-0, 5-0): Jachin Bender 63as; Zachary Cullen 15k, 3b, 1ac; Andrew Irish 6k, 3b; David Mazur 29k, 7b; Jacob Ottman 19k, 1b.

    CANASTOTA - Canastota beat Herkimer 25-8, 25-9, 25-15 in Center State Conference play.

    HOLLAND PATENT - Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's girls lost to Holland Patent 25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 Tuesday.

    Alexis Albro, Hillary Stoltz and Alyssa Stewart teamed for 15 kills for the Red Devils in defeat.

    CAMDEN - Camden's girls stayed one back of Oneida in the loss column with a 14-25, 20-25, 27-25, 26-24, 25-21 win against Whitesboro on Tuesday.

    "It was a makeshift line-up, but we got it done," Camden coach Scott Manzer said after his injury-depleted ranks Blue Devils pulled out the Tri-Valley League thriller.

    Whitesboro (5-2, 6-5): Stephanie Ciotti 2ac, 14k, 1b; Katie Synakowski 4ac, 12k; Christine Roback 1ac, 26as; Kaitlyn Delett 9k.
