Mary Alice Boyajian

BALLSTON LAKE - Mary Alice Boyajian, of Keystone Commons died Sunday morning April 10, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Mary Koshgarian on Feb. 15, 1916, in Evanston, Illinois she was the daughter of the late Issiah and Alice Sabin Koshgarian.
Mary was known by all to be a positive influence on everyone she met, a peacemaker, who was devoted to family and her Lord Jehovah and who set a daily example of how to act with loving kindness to all. She played the piano daily and loved to share her gourmet Armenian cooking with family and friends alike, all of whom will miss her dearly.
She married the late Joseph Boyajian in 1936. She is mother of Arthur Boyajian and his wife Susan of Troy, Joseph Boyajian Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen of Clifton Park, Elesa Ambrosino and her husband Frank of Mechanicville, Donald Boyajian and his wife Rhonda of Clifton Park and the late Gregory Boyajian. She was the loving grandmother of nine adoring grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by her brothers, Jack and George Koshgarian.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy. There will be no calling hours. A public memorial service will be held at a time and date to be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Hospital Foundation in care of the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford, NY 12188.


Princee Catone
TROY - Mrs. Princee V. Catone of Troy died at her residence Friday April 8, 2005.
Born in Pittsfield, MA.,she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmella Riggiione and the beloved wife of the late John J. Catone, who died in 1977. Mrs. Catone was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Troy and she loved working in her garden.
She was the loving mother of Virginia Beeler and John P. Catone Sr., both of Troy; loving grandmother of Patricia Beeler of Delmar, Andrew J. Beeler and his wife Elizabeth of Nassau and John P. Catone Jr. of Troy. Mrs. Catone is also survived by a sister, Ann Catone and a brother, Joseph Riggione, both of Troy, and the late Jerry Riggione. She is also survived by her special great-granddaughter Jeri Beeler of Cohoes and by a very dear friend Ken Palmer of Troy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Mrs. Catone will be held Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the Wm. Leady Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Troy, where a Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.

Joseph Derocher
COHOES - Joseph A. Derocher, Sr., 61, of Park Avenue, Cohoes, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, Friday, April 8, 2005, after a brief illness.
He was born and educated in Troy and was the son of the late Leonard D. and Dorothy L. Brammer Derocher. At the time of his death, he was working at Siena College in Loudonville.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Iola Pondillo Derocher of Cohoes. Father of Joseph D. Derocher, Jr. of Cohoes, Samantha Smith and her husband Michael of Clifton Park. Brother of Joyce Cook of Clifton Park, Dorothy St. John of Amsterdam, Michael Derocher of Watervliet and Timothy Derocher of Waterford and the late Leonard Derocher. Stepbrother of Larry Derocher, Butch Derocher and Tammy Duquette. Beloved grandfather of Michael, Jonathan, Shane, Tiffany, Brittany and Kimberly. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral Wednesday 9 a.m. from the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 216 Columbia St., Cohoes and 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

Sylvia Clementi

WATERFORD - Sylvia Fraim Clementi, 72, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Lena Oshier Fraim. She resided in Cohoes most of her life and worked at The Record newspaper in Troy for more than 17 years.
Sylvia enjoyed art, music and gardening.
Survived by her devoted children Earl (Shirley) Johnson of Cohoes, Linda Johnson and her fiancée Don Weber of Sprakers, NY, Percy Pytel and her fiancée Dave Edgecomb of CT and Anthony (Heidi) Clementi of Waterford. Sister of Norman Fraim of CT, Paula Taylor of Clifton Park and the late Schuyler Fraim and Dorena Brown. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home, corner of Remsen and Columbia streets, Cohoes, with Rev. Nick Tebordo officiating.

Nellie Dufresne
WATERFORD - Nellie H. Dufresne, 90, of Saratoga Avenue, Waterford at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, Friday, April 8, 2005 after a short illness.
She was born in Corning, NY and educated in Waterford High School and attended Troy Business College. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Huzar Dromirecki. As a young woman, she rode the train from Cohoes to the big city of Albany where she worked in an office on State Street.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anne's Church, Waterford and was a former president of the Ladies of St. Anne, which she enjoyed with her many friends for years. She was a member of UTC, Waterford Senior Citizens and a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary Peck Hose Volunteer Fire Department. Later in life, she worked at the Waterford Water Works for many years.
Nellie enjoyed traveling to Europe over the years with her husband and also with her cousin. Over the years, she enjoyed a close relationship with her cousins, two granddaughters and her great-grandchildren.
She was the wife of the late Henry G. Dufresne. Mother of Henry J. Dufresne and his wife Marie of Waterford. Sister of John Dromirecki of Henderson, NV, and the late Walter Dromirecki. Grandmother of Lori Spoor and her husband Philip of Waterford and Amy Valenti and her husband Michael of Waterford. Great-grandmother of Emily and Ian Spoor and Justin Valenti, also survived by three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral Tuesday 10:30 a.m. from the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 216 Columbia St., Cohoes and 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.

John Gebert Jr.
SAFETY HARBOR, FL - John Joseph Gebert Jr., MD, of Safety Harbor Florida, formerly of Defreestville, NY, passed away at peace on Friday, April 8, 2005.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1921 at Carbondale, PA, the son of John Joseph Sr. and Mary (Garrity) Gebert. His wife, Claire Martin (Lynn) Gebert, predeceased him on Aug. 19, 1998.
He is survived by six children, Claire Lynn Gebert, of Safety Harbor, John Kevin Gebert, MD, of Troy, NY, Paul Gebert, Bryan Gebert, of Safety Harbor, Kent Gebert, Esq., of Schenectady, and Mary Kay (Gebert) Maki, also of Safety Harbor; by two sisters, Mrs. Mary (Gebert) Shaff, of Kansas City, MO, and Mrs. Alice (Gebert) Eib, of Staten Island, NY, and by one brother, Donald Gebert, still of Carbondale; by five grandchildren, Megan Gebert and Andrew Gebert, of Troy, Naomi Maki and Mari Claire Maki, of Safety Harbor, and Brett Gebert; and also by numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Gebert was predeceased by his brother James.
Dr. Gebert entered the U.S. Marine Corp. and served in the South Pacific during World War II for three years. Upon leaving the service, he attended the University of Scranton on the GI Bill and finished his premedical studies on an accelerated schedule. From Scranton, he went to the Marquette University Medical School, now known as the Medical College of Wisconsin, from which he was graduated in 1952. Dr. Gebert and his wife were married in August 1947 at Jermyn, PA, and were married 51 years at the time of her death.
From Wisconsin, the doctor and his wife moved to Albany, NY, where Dr. Gebert did his internship at St. Peter's Hospital. Following his internship, he entered private practice with another physician and then opened his own practice at Clinton Heights in Rensselaer, NY. In 1970, Dr. Gebert closed his practice and became employed full-time as an emergency room physician at the former Leonard Hospital in Lansingburgh, NY. He was director of the Emergency Department for many years until his retirement in 1983. He was also, for several years before his retirement, the plant physician for the Ford Motor Company at Green Island, NY.
Following his retirement, Dr. Gebert and his wife continued to reside in Defreestville, then in Clifton Park, before moving to Vero Beach, FL. Dr. Gebert moved to Safety Harbor in 1999.
Funeral services will be by the Lyons Funeral Home at 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, NY: 286-3400. Viewing hours will be Tuesday, April 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church on Third Street in Rensselaer on Wednesday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend at the funeral home before the Mass may do so at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Interment will be at St. Peters Roman Catholic Cemetery in Troy, NY.

Brian Haverly
WATERVLIET - Brian P. (Tim) Haverly, 64, of Watervliet beloved husband of Dolores Shostak for 40 years died suddenly Saturday April 9, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after being stricken at his home.
Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Irene Layden Haverly. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School class of 1959.
Tim was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard serving from 1960 until 1967. He was co-owner of Haverly Glass in Watervliet from 1977 until 1987 when he became the vice president of Advance Glass on 19th Street in Watervliet. a position he held at the time of his death. He was a resident of Watervliet for more than 45 years and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his loving children Claudine (Domenic) Costa of Nassau and Nicole (Keith) Carbon of Fort Ann, his cherished granddaughter, Alysha Costa of Nassau, his brother Neil (June) Haverly of Clifton Park, his step-father Monte Palmer of Largo, Fla., his nephews Michael and Mark Haverly and Josh Shostak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Patrick 515 19th St., Watervliet.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, today from 4-8 p.m.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.

Theodore Hudy
WATERVLIET - Theodore Hudy, 87, died April 7, 2005. Husband of Mary Winaraz Hudy, father of Elizabeth M. Hudy Fox and Frederick J. Hudy, Sr., both of Watervliet, Grandfather of Michael J. Fox, Thomas Hudy and Frederick J. Hudy Sr., great-grandfather of Ashley, James and Elizabeth Fox, Thomas, Olivia and Ashley Hudy. Funeral 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Bros. Valetta LaGue
COHOES - Valetta (Mary) Parent LaGue, 77, of Miller Avenue, Cohoes, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, embraced by her loving family.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alma Lussier Parent and wife of the late Raymond G. LaGue. Mary was educated in the Troy schools and lived most of her adult life in Cohoes.
She was devoted to her family and home and enjoyed crocheting.
Mary is survived by her devoted children, Monica V. LaGue of Cohoes and Joel (Dativa) LaGue of Colonie; her cherished grandson, Nathan C. LaGue; her eight siblings, Beatrice Charbonneau and Theresa Elliott, both of Cohoes, Theodore of Saratoga Springs, Leo (Paul) of Crescent, Clement of Cohoes, Frank of Florida, Wilfred (Bob) of Cohoes and Lionel of Broadalbin. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, Wednesday morning at 9:30 with Rev. Arthur J. Becker officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited any may call at the funeral home Tuesday 4-8 p.m.

Frank O'Brien
BALLSTON LAKE - Frank W. O'Brien, 90, formerly of Broadway, Watervliet, died Friday. Widower of Kathryn E. Karn O'Brien. Survived by two daughters Rosemary C. Carney and Patricia G. Doran. Muriel Thiessen
TROY - Muriel S. Thiessen, 88, of Troy and a former Rhinebeck resident, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the Eddy Heritage House Nursing Home in Troy.
Before residing in Troy she was a resident of New York City, Claverack, and the Woods in Rhinebeck. She was an officer in the Women's National Republican Club and was the first woman elected to the Claverack Town Council.
A noted hostess for a wide circle of friends and an avid bridge player, she was a member of the D.A.R. and was active in other local historical organizations until her illness curtailed her activities. Muriel was a member of Church of the Messiah in Rhinebeck and was a volunteer for the Rhinebeck Chamber of Commerce.
Born on Feb. 3, 1917, in Annandale-on-Hudson, and raised in Upper Red Hook with her sister Elaine Saulpaugh Bentien. She was the eldest daughter of the late Herbert and Cecelia (Hartnett) Saulpaugh.
Mrs. Thiessen was an alumna of Mount Holyoke College and served on various alumnae association committees.
Muriel married Milton Thiessen on Sept. 25, 1947. Milton predeceased her on Dec. 31, 1999.
Survivors include three nieces, Pamela Bentien of Troy, Laurie and her husband Kenny Van Tine of Troy, and Barbara Thiessen of Maine; a nephew, Crispin Thiessen of South Carolina, and a great niece, Krytsta Van Tine of Troy. Many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends also survive.
Along with her husband, a sister, Elaine S. Bentien predeceased her in 1999.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Burnett & White Funeral Home, Red Hook. The Rev. Gerald Gallagher will officiate. Burial will be at Red Church Cemetery, Tivoli.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Muriel's memory to the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center, 421 W. Columbia St. Ext., Cohoes, NY 12047.
